Could be rumor campaign. Current GM mgmt benefits delaying a merger that would endanger their control. True that merged GM/Renault/Nissan would loom over Toyota.

More clearly stated here: oust Waggoner and install Ghosn. Excellent idea. Would not change GM's product mix strategy radically; Nissan doesn't see the sense in hybrids either.
