Not mentioned is the CAFE loophole which lets automakers claim higher MPG for flex fuel trucks, whether they ever use ethanol or not. Meanwhile the market price of ethanol is now above than of straight gasoline, in spite of having less energy per unit vol

Ford plans full-size SUV hybrids. After Bill Ford's reneging on his commitment to build 250,000 hybrids a year this starts to sound disingenuous. How many will they actually build?

Ford & GM vehicles profitable enough to support a hybrid drivetrain's cost are their SUVs. They cannot make a hybrid SUV with fuel economy improvement that appears meaningful to buyers. In any case, buyers of SUVs are much more supportive of ethanol. G
